Effect of Decapitation and PGRS on Growth and Seed Yield of Cluster Bean (Cyamopsis tetragonoloba Taub.) cv. Pusa Navbahar

Abstract

An experiment was conducted to study the “Effect of decapitation and PGRs on growth and seed yield of cluster bean (Cyamopsis tetragonoloba Taub.)” cv. Pusa Navbahar with 3 (three) decapitation treatments and 4(four) Plant growth regulators each at two concentration with control in factorial randomized design with three replication at Regional Horticultural Research Station, ASPEE College of Horticulture and Forestry, Navsari Agricultural University, Navsari during summer 2014. The results showed significant differences among the yield parameters dueto decapitationtreatment. Decapitation at 45 DAS registered significantly maximum dry pod length (10.68 cm) and maximum 1000 seed weight (34.26 g) in analysis. However, Decapitationat 30 DAS produced significantly the highest dry pod yield (4250 kg ha −1), seed yield per plot (0.758) and seed yield kg ha −1 (1735.71 kg ha−1) in analysis as compared to without decapitation (1460.01 kg ha −1). Among the PGR's treatment spraying of Yield attributing characters viz, dry pod length (10.49 cm) and weight of 1000 seeds (35.06 g) were significantly higher in treatment P5 (Thiourea 1000 mg l−1), P3 (GA3 50 mg l1) and P4 (Thiourea 500 mg l−1) respectively. Significantly maximum seed yield (kg ha−1), seed yield per plot (kg) and dry pod yield (3831 kg ha −1) was recorded under the treatment P2 (GA3 25 mg l−1).
