First Report of Beltraniella humicola on Pomegranate Leaves from India

Abstract

A new foliar disease was observed in pomegranate (Punica granatum L.) orchards in Himachal Pradesh (India). The disease was distinguished by spread of infection from the tip of the leaf in the form of large black irregular spot, spreading from tip to downwards. Leaf became dark black and infectedarea turned necrotic. Infection was generally viewed on mature leaves of pomegranate, spreads very fast covering the whole leaf surface in a short period resulting in shedding of leaves. B. humicola is reported for the first time on the leaves of pomegranate from India.
