Abstract

The present investigation entitled “Generation Mean Analysis in three crosses viz, AKO-111xAKO-102, AKO-107xAKO-97-16, AKO-107xAKO-94-04-01 of Okra (Abelmoschus esculentus L. Moench)” was conducted at field of Department of Botany, Dr. Panjabrao Deshmukh Krishi Vidyapeeth, Akola in Kharif 2007. The experimental material comprised of 18 treatmetns including five parents, one check, three F1’s, three F2’s and six back cross generations. Seven different quantitative characters of okra were studied and biometrical analysis was done by testing of epistasis and estimation of genetic variances using generation meananalysis which provided information useful in choosing the most appropriate breeding procedure for further improvement of crosses made.
