Abstract

A field study was laid toevaluate the effect of increased nitrogen in five maize hybrids at Eastern Block Farm, Tamil Nadu Agricultural University, Coimbatore during kharif and rabi, 2012. The experiment was laid out in strip plot design with three replications with five maize hybrids and four levels of nitrogen. The results revealed that, TNAU prerelease hybrid CMH08–282 exhibit higher plant height, yield attributes and yield under increased nitrogen level across the season. Though higher nitrogen levels produce more yield, the interaction between hybrids and nitrogen levels applied was found to be non significant irrespective of the seasons studied.
