Abstract

The experiment was subject to identify different parental lines; test the hybridity and to observe mean performance of parents and hybrids. For the parental identificationand hybridity test a total of twenty RAPD primers were screened. Out of which, only six RAPD primers i.e., OPAY-13, OPAY-18, OPAY-05, OPAP18, OPAP-05 and OPBG-02 found to bepolymorphic among the parents. The experimental materials used in the study comprised of twell parents viz., Todvar-1 (TDV-1), Todvar-2 (TDV-2), Todvar-3 (TDV-3), Todvar4 (TDV-4), Todvar-5 (TDV-5), Todvar-6 (TDV-6), Todvar-7 (TDV-7), Todvar-8 (TDV-8), Cherry-1 (Ch1), Cherry-2 (Ch-2), Cherry-3 (Ch-3) H-86 and their ten F1’s. The mean performance study of parents and hybrids resulted that among the parent Ch-3 gave the highest yield potential, followed by Ch-1 (Cherry-1) and TDV-7. In case of hybrids, it was recorded highest in Ch-3 x H-86, followed by Ch-3xT-7, and T-5xT-8.
