Assessment of Weed Flora in Raipur District of Chhattisgarh: A Scientific Survey

Abstract

Raipur district was surveyed to know the present weed flora and invasion of any re-surging or alien weed species in the region. 10 blocks and 497 villages in Raipur district were covered during 2008–10 in kharif and rabi seasons. Survey was done in cropped area, non-cropped area and garbage area. Echinochloa colona and Cynodon dactylon registered highest Importance Value Index (IVI) in rice crop during kharif and rabi seasons respectively. However, in noncropped area, Cassia tora during Kharif and Cynodon dactylon during Rabi registered highest IVI. Cassia tora during Kharif and Cynodon dactylon during Rabi registered highest IVI in garbage area.
