A Field experiments were conducted at farmer's field, Periyakulam, Tamil Nadu during 2011 to 2013 to find out the efficiency of different fertilizers and planting materials on physiology of turmeric cv. Roma. The experiment was laid out in a factorial randomized block design consisting of two factors, viz., Factor 1planting material (S1-whole rhizome and S2-single node cuttings) and factor-II consisted of different doses of inorganic fertilizers, organic manures and liquid biofertilizers constituting 20 different treatment combinations. The results revealed that, among the planting materials whole rhizome registered the highest values for the physiological characters like leaf area, leaf area index, net assimilation rate, relative growth rate, crop growth rate and total chlorophyll. Application OF 50 per cent RDF NPK + 50 per cent FYM + Vermicompost + Neem cake + Azospirillum + Phosphobacteria. The treatment T6S1 viz., planting of whole rhizome with application 50 per cent RDF NPK as chemical fertilizers + 50 per cent FYM + Vermicompost + Neem cake + Azospirillum + Phosphobacteria registered the highest values for all the physiological parameters of the present study leading to enhanced yield.
