The present investigation entitled “heterosis studies for grain yield in pea (pisum sativm L.)” was undertaken to estimate extent of standard heterosis, average heterosis and heterobeltios. Line x Tester mating design was selected for the study. The experimental material comprised of 3 females (lines), 8 males (Testers) and their 24 crosses. The highest significant average heterosis was recorded in cross DDR-39 X DDR-55 (23.71) while the cross Rachana X DDR-44 (20.52%) recorded the highest significant heterobeltiosis for grain yield per plant. The highest significant standard heterosis for grain yield per plant was recorded in HFP-4 X IPF-09-11 (35.71% over the check Rachana and 21.56% over the check HFP4) followed by DDR-39 x DDR-55 (23.54% over the check Rachana) and Rachana x DDR-44 (22.75% over the check Rachana).
