Evaluation of Botanicals for Control of Anthracnose of Sorghum in vitro

Abstract

Sorghum is attacked by a broad range of plant pathogens. Anthracnose, caused by Colletotrichum graminicola (Ces.) Wilson, is one of the most destructive foliar diseases. Ten Botanicals or plant extracts was studied by poisoned food technique control of Colletotrichum graminicola, fungal pathogen responsible for anthracnose disease in Sorghum. The results showed that all the selected plants have potential to inhibit the radial mycelial growth of C. graminicola in-vitro. Result revealed that garlic extract resulted maximum inhibition of radial growth of C. graminicola followed by onion and ginger while thuja resulted in minimum inhibition of radial growth.
