Abstract

Sorghum is attacked by a broad range of plant pathogens. Anthracnose, caused by Colletotrichum graminicola (Ces.) Wilson, is one of the most destructive foliar diseases.. The present investigation was carried out to evaluate the effectiveness ten fungicides at 50, 100, 200 and 400 ppm concentration in vitro against C. graminicola by poisoned food technique. The results showed that all fungicides were inhibitory to mycelial growth and the effectiveness of fungicides increased with an increase in concentration and time. Among the fungicides Saaf, Quintal and Bavistin gave 100 per-cent inhibition of C. graminicola at all concentrations in vitro. Fungicide Ultrasulf was found comparatively least effective against the test pathogen.
