Abstract

The present investigation entitled on “Correlation and Path Analysis Studies for Yield and Yield Contributing Characters in Linseed (Linum usitatissimum). The genotypic and phenotypic coefficients of variation were observed to be high for seed yield per plant (20.153, 24.997) followed by no. secondary branches per plant (15.985, 22.351), oil content (14.071, 23.495), no. of capsules per plant (14.911, 16.932) there by indicate the good scope for genetic improvement of these characters by selection. Significant positive correlation of seed yield per plant is with 1000 seed weight and negative with days to maturity allows for early maturity. Path analysis revealed that the character number of capsules per plant and 1000-seed weight had highest direct positive effects on seed yield followed by days to 50 per cent flowering number of primary branches per plant and plant height. These traits had strong positive association with seed yield there by indicating the importance of direct selection for these characters.
