This study was to analyze the socio economic condition of self help groups in Junagadh district. The women self help groups which were functioning in Junagadh district of Gujarat. Two stage sampling technique was adopted for the selection of samples. At the first stage, 20 SHGs were selected from two taluka (10 SHGs from each) i.e. Mangrol and Maliya. At the second stage from each selected SHGs 5 members were selected randomly for the collection of data. Therefore, 100 samples were selected for the study. The simple comparison was made on the basis of percentage in analyzing the socio economic status of the SHG members and reasons for joining SHG. The self help groups surveyed from two taluka of Junagadh district has been functioning well in terms of their monthly savings, monthly meetings, internal loaning etc. The women SHGs) primarily concentrate on women and economically backward classes because most of the members are the poor, mainly landless and agricultural laborers. The main reason for joining SHGs by members in the study area is for increasing saving habit, availing loan and to improve social status.
