Abstract

The study aims to examine a comparative study of kisan credit card scheme among KCC and Non-KCC users in Bilaspur district of Chhattisgarh. The specific objectives of the study were (i) To work out the compound growth rate of Kisan Credit Cards users in Bilaspur district (ii) To compare the economics of major crop production between KCC and non-KCC users (iii) To identify different constraints and suggest measures for improvement of Kisan Credit Card scheme. Primary data were collected from 40 farmers from four villages of one block through personal interview method with the help of prestructured schedule for the year 2014–15. Secondary data has been collected through various sources such as reports released by NABARD, District Co-operative Central bank, Raipur, District Planning and Statistics, Bilaspur, etc. In the study find out the compound growth rate of Kisan Credit Card users in Bilaspur is 41.02 per cent. The Gross returns and consequently net margins have been found higher for KCC beneficiary than non-beneficiary farmers. The factors influencing the adoption of KCC scheme and constraints perceived by the farmers have been identified. Some measures have also been suggested to attract more farmers towards the scheme.
