Abstract

The study was undertaken to see the impact of the intensive programmes like IADP and IAAP on area, production and productivity of theme crops considered under these intensive programmes. The data on above mentioned aspects is collected for the pre-intensive (1955–56 to 1959–60) as well as post-intensive era (1965–66 to 1969–70) from the web link quoted in references. Compound Annual Growth Rate (CAGR) was calculated to see the impact of these intensive programmes and results revealed that area sown more than once grown at the rate of 5.36 per cent during post-intensive era. There was tremendous growth in the area of theme crops especially Wheat (8.5) and even production grown by 8.60 per cent (Rice) and 19.84 per cent (Wheat) in post-intensive era. Compared to the low or negative growth in the period immediately preceding Independence, they were successful. Both productivity and output increased during post-intensive era.
