Abstract

Studies were conducted on the effect of plant growth regulators on dormancy in different sized corms gladiolus cv. White prosperity during 2013–14. The plant growth regulator gibberellic acid (GA3) at 150, 200 and 250 ppm with three sized(1.0 cm, 1–0.2.5 cm, >2.5 cm) corms for this study. The gladiolus corms were dipped in the plant growth regulator solutions for a period of 10 hours before planting after removal of corm scales. Bigger sized corms With GA3at 250 ppm less number of days to sprout(17.88 days) and 50% sprouting (23.66 days), Number of sprouting per seed corms(3.22), Number of sprouting per treatment(18.55), sprouting percentage(99.7), Mobilization efficiency (207.44g)
