Comparative Study by Demonstration and Adoption of Backyard Poultry Breed-Kadaknath with Local Breed in Nicra Project

Abstract

The Kadaknath is an Indian breed of chicken local to the Madhya Pradesh area, where it is knownas “Kali masi” (“fowl having black flesh”). The Kadaknath is popular mainly for its adaptability and the good-tasting black meat, The objectives of the study were to demonstrate the backyard poultry kadaknathfor tribal beneficiaries of NICRA village in compare with with local breed provided by veterinary department and to convenience the tribal for adoption of kadaknath breed. The study was conducted in NICRA project adopted village Bakulahi of KVK, Raipur (Bhatapara) Bhatapara block of Baloda Bazar Bhatapara district during 2013–14 and 64 per cent of the respondents ie 496 respondent were responded, adopted when NICRA team has demonstrated. Data were collected from randomly selected peoples by interview schedule. The collected data were quantified, classified, tabulated and presented on the basis of frequencies and percentages. It is revealed that higher percentage 64% of overall peoples have satisfied with demonstrated kadaknath breed while remaining 34% have not satisfied with for adoption.
