Eco Friendly Grain Protectants for the Storage of Black Gram Vignamungo L.

Pulses, also called grain legumes, which are extensively grown in tropical regions of the world for centuries as a major protein rich crop bringing considerable improvement in human diet. Pulse beetle is the major pest of black gram causing economic damage. Chemicals are widely used in the field for the management of pulse beetle, but during storage, eco-friendly protectants play a major role for the management of pulse beetle. In the present stuy pungam oil, neem oil, coconut oil, neem seed powder, notchi powder, red chilli were used for the management of pulse beetle. Among the different grain protectants, pungam oil, coconut oil and neem oil posses high insecticidal activity.
