The engineering properties are important in design and development of processing and handling equipments and storage structures. In the present investigation, some of the engineering properties which are important in storage were determined for the paddy variety ADT-46 with moisture content 10.6 ± 0.24% (w.b). The mean values obtained for length, width and thickness were 8.90, 2.46 and 1.76 mm respectively. The mean values of geometric mean diameter and sphericity were 3.40 mm and 39.88% respectively. The mean weight of hundred grains obtained was 2.42 g. The bulk density, porosity and angle of repose values were 586.66 kg.m−3, 64.1% and 35.83° respectively. The static co-efficient of friction was measured using three different surface materials; plywood, galvanized steel and glass plate. The static coefficient of friction was higher in plywood (0.43) followed by galvanized steel (0.34) and glass plate (0.24).
