Abstract

Chilli (Capsicum annum L.) is an important spice and vegetable crop, severely attacked by wilt (Fusarium solani). This disease become a severe problem in recent years with a severe threat to successful and profitable cultivation of chilli in Gujarat state. The disease is characterized by yellowing and drying of the leaves, browning of vascular bundles followed by prompt death of the plants within a few days. Studies on the use of plant extract have opened a new avenue for disease control. Plant extracts are potential alternative to chemical agents that are hazardous to the environment. Therefore efforts was made to screen the different phytoextracts in laboratory condition against test fungus. Among different phytoextracts tested maximuminhibitionwas obtained in neem leaf extract (71.39%) which was followed by ginger rhizome extract (64.99%) and turmeric rhizome extract (52.51%).
