Abstract

Investigations were carried out at Department of Agricultural Entomology, B. A. College of Agriculture, AAU, Anand during 2013 on mung bean for evaluation of plant oils as grain protectants against Callosobruchus chinensis Linnaeus under storage. Mung bean grains treated with neem, castor and groundnut oils @ 1 per cent v/w recorded significantly higher adult mortality (more than 66%) of C. chinensis during storage period of six months, higher half-live values (e” 71 days), higher gross persistency (4485.0 to 4300.0) and lower population growth (d” 3.83 adult emergence). None of the oils affected the germination of mung bean seed.
