A field experiment was conducted to Effect of Azatobacter and nitrogen levels on growth yield and nutrient availability in maize (Zea mays L.) during kharif, 2014, at the Agronomic Research Form, University of Agriculture, Faizabad. The experiment was laid out in Randomized Block Design (RBD) having three replications with following treatments: T1 (control), T2 (Azatobacter), T3 (80 kg N ha−1), T4 (75% of T3 + Azatobacter), T5 (100 kg N ha−1), T6 (75% of T5 + Azatobacter), T7 (120 kg N ha−1) and T8 (75% of T7 + Azatobacter). Higher grain yield 42.50 q ha−1) and stalk yield (75.90 q ha−1), was found significantly with T7 (120 kg N ha−1) treatments which is at par with T8 (75% of T7 + Azatobacter). The growth and yield characters like plant height, number of leaves per plant, cobs per plant, grain weight per cob, number of grain per cob, seed index, grain and stalk yield (q ha−1) was observed in T7 (120 kg N ha−1) treatments which is at par with T8 (75% of T7 + Azatobacter). The highest net income (Rs. 46433 ha−1) was obtained with the application of (T7) 120 kg N ha−1 followed by (T8) 75% of T7 + Azatobacter (Rs. 44211 ha−1).
