Abstract

Profiling the Socio-economic characteristics of cashew farmers affected by Thane storm in Cuddalore district of Tamil Nadu earns its significance from the recent developments in the light of intensified natural disasters. The study was conducted in Panruti block of Cuddalore district with sample size of 194 Thane affected cashew growers to profile their socioeconomic characteristics. The respondents were interviewed personally by a well-structured interview schedule. Percentage analysis and cumulative frequency techniques were used to categorize the selected respondents based on their characteristics. It can be concluded that majority of the respondents were old and functionally literate and has farming as their sole occupation and lived in Thatched and tiled houses.
