Communication skills are one of the elements of the soft skills that are essential among university graduates who seek employment. Keeping in view the shrinking job market the present investigation aims to assess communication skills of undergraduate students studying agriculture in Pantnagar university, India. Questionnaires were used to assess the communication skills of students from HRD personnels of the prospective employer companies which visited at university to recruit agricultural graduates through on-campus placement. The results of the study showed that most of the employers 60% felt that the technical knowledge, general awareness and analytical skills of the agricultural graduates of Pantnagar were good. It was found that an excellent level of interpersonal, reading, comprehension skills and listening skills required among the students. The study concludes that there was considerable gap between the competence required to get employed and existing level of communication skills among the agriculture graduates of Pantnagar University and there is great and urgent need to work upon the communication skills by the agriculture graduates to enhance their employability.
