Stability of biochemical components has not been investigated in grain amaranths due to their underutilized status. The objectives of the present study were to assess genotype-environment interactions (GEI), determine stability of biochemical components. Stability parameters for biochemical characters for 40 genotypes of grain amaranth (Amaranthus hypochondriacus L.) was estimated for three successive years 2010, 2011 and 2012 for four environment i. e. rabi, 2010–11 (E1) at Lucknow, kharif and rabi, 2011–12 (E2 and E3) at Lucknow and rabi, 2012–13 (E4) at Allahabad and their pooled data. Across four growing environments genotypic variability, monitoring of phenotypic variation and genotype by environment interaction (GEI) for biochemical characters was studied using Eberhart and Russell (1966) stability model. The pooled analysis of variance for biochemical characters over four environments i.e. rabi, 2010–11 (E1) at Lucknow, kharif and rabi, 2011–12 (E2 and E3) at Lucknow and rabi, 2012–13 (E4) at Allahabad revealed Env + (Gen. x Env.) was found non-significant for all biochemical characters. Both linear and non-linear component of environment was found to be non-significant for all biochemical characters.
