Abstract

The present investigation was carried out in Mandya district of Karnataka state. Thirty Farmers who are practicing poultry were considered as the sample and 30 non practicing farmers were selected through random sampling method from 3 taluks viz. K.R. Pet, Mandya and Maddur of Mandya distrct. Results revealed that the difference in the mean score among the farmers practicing dairy as a subsidiary occupation and farmers not practicing dairy as a subsidiary occupation can be seen in characteristics viz.., education level (1.97), type of house (0.67), organizational participation (8.74), mass media participation (0.88), Extension participation (7.10), annual income (1.07), total land holding (1.64) and material possession (4.03).
