Survey of Incidence of Pigeonpea Wilt in Major Pigeonpea Growing Districts of Chhattisgarh

Wilt of pigeonpea caused by Fusarium oxysporum f. sp. udum is the major disease of this crop. Survey of incidence of pigeonpea wilt was carried out in eight major pigeonpea growing districts viz. Bemetara, Durg, Kawardha, Korea, Mungeli, Raigarh, Raipur and Rajnandgaon of Chhattisgarh during kharif 2014–2015 to assess the severity of the disease. The records collected revealed that incidence of wilt ranged from 2.27 to 16.20 per cent, whereas the average variation was ranged from 4.40 to 11.27 per cent. The incidence of wilt was higher in the villages under rainfed condition; Chherkapur (11.27%) followed by Navagaon (10.80%), Mohara (10.37%), Kapa (9.92%) and Dabo (5.98%) as compared to irrigated condition villages viz. Nandvai (8.04%), Karpipali (7.28%) and IGKV, Research farm (4.40%) on average basis.
