Abstract

Rai Technology University is one of the best site to study the butterfly diversity, located in Bengaluru rural district of Karnataka. It spreads over 100 acres. A detailed field survey on the diversity of butterflies by using pollard walk method was conducted during October 2014 to September 2015. The objective of the survey is to determine the presence of butterflies. The study revealed a total of 45 species of butterfly belonging to, Papilionidae, Lycaenidae, Nymphalidae, Pieridae, Hesperiidae and Noctuidae families. Presence of these schedule species in the study area shows that the area is rich in butterfly diversity and there is an urgent need toadapt conservation policies.
