Abstract

The following reviews deals with the existing scientific investigations carried out in various parts of India by use of biofertilizers in guava cultivation which has an effect on plant growth characters, fruit yield, quality parameters of fruit, physical attributes of fruit, benefit: cost ratio and effect of soil properties as well. The different treatment of biofertilizers of different levels has shown significant influence on plant growth, yield, quality parameters and also in economics of guava production. The use of inorganic fertilizers can be reduced without much reduction in yield, quality and benefit: cost ratio with the application of biofertilizers. Also application of biofertilizers has a beneficial effect on the availability of major nutrients in the soil particularly N and P and it also helps in maintaining the soil physic-chemical properties at a desired level.
