Kawardha district was surveyed to know the present weed flora and invasion of any re-surging or alien weed species in the region. 4 blocks and 66 villages during kharif and 3 blocks and 55 villages during rabi seasons were covered in 2 years during 20092010 in Kawardha district. Survey was done in cropped area, non-cropped area and garbage area. Echinochloa colona in rice and Leucas aspera in gram registered highest Importance Value Index (IVI) during kharif and rabi seasons respectively. However, in non-cropped area, Cassia tora during Kharif and Xanthium strumarium during Rabi registered highest IVI. Calotropis procera during Kharif and Ipomea cornea during Rabi registered highest IVI in garbage area.
