Economics of Brinjal Cultivation in Kanker District of Chhattisgarh

The present study was conducted in the Kanker districts of Chhattisgarh. 100 farmers were selected from two blocks Koylibeda and Charama categorized into marginal, small, medium and large farmers based on their holding size. The primary data were collected for the year 2014–15. The major findings of this study revealed that an average the cost of cultivation per hectare of brinjal was found Rs.62839.75. Overall on an average the cost of production of brinjal was observed as Rs.284.0. Cost of production per quintal of these brinjal shows decreasing trend with increase in farm size where as cost of cultivation increase with increase in the farm size. Overall on an average the input-output ratio of brinjal came to 1: 2.80 on the sample farms.
