Abstract

A total of 112 S. hyicus from 343 porcine were subjected for the study of certain biochemical and antibiogram properties. All the S. hyicus (100.00%) showed positive results to catalase, alkaline phosphatase, arginine utilization, gelatinliquefaction and fermentative on modified Hugh and Leifson's test. They also ferment sucrose, lactose and trehalose. The recovered S. hyicus showed 100.00 per cent sensitivity to amoxyclav and ceftriaxone/tazobactam followed by mupirocin (95.53%), gentamicin (91.07%) and ceftriaxone/sulbactam (90.18%).
