Case Study on Knowledge Management Behaviour of Agricultural Scientists

In recent years, the concept of knowledge management (KM) has been practiced by agricultural scientists. This article, based on an empirical case study, explores the practical issues of knowledge management from the scientist's perspective. This study details the knowledge management experiences and activities of individual scientists who have made substantial contributions to particular field of agriculture through successful inventions. The study aims to assess the knowledge management behaviour of two agricultural scientists of Tamil Nadu Agricultural University. A sample size of two representative scientists were purposively selected as case based on their contribution and having obtained patent for the invention in the field of agriculture. Findings revealed scientists behavior in terms of practicing the knowledge management process like knowledge acquisition from various sources, knowledge storing in digital and non digital mode, knowledge organizing, knowledge sharing, patent filed for their invention and use of ICT tools for managing technical knowledge. The study findings also show the reasons and type of information and/or knowledge considered as important for research work and the different information resources and how such resources can be utilized for human wellbeing.
