Current investigation attempted to study diurnal temperature fluctuations as affected by residual effect of proposed resource conservation technologies viz. zero tillage (ZT) in wheat, direct seeding (DSR) and mechanically transplanting (MTR) under puddle (P), dry (DT) and conventional tillage (CT) in rice during wheat 2013–14. Digital soil thermometers with 0–5 and 0–10 cm probes used to study diurnal soil heat flux. Zero tilled plots at 5 cm soil depth irrespective of tillage and establishment methods of rice, had 3.3% higher temperature than the conventionally tilled plots and the differences observed to 4.7% as the investigated depth goes to 10 cm. Mechanically transplanted plots had 2.2% higher temperature than DSR of rice 2013 while among tillage in rice, zero till plots recorded with 3.6% higher temperature than puddle plots.
