An efficient, simple and reproducible genetic transformation technology is very essential for the analysis of gene(s) function in cereal crops like wheat. This is mainly, because various omics-based technologies have revolutionized the pace of genome sequencing, compounding large numbers of sequences to be analyzed and annotated via different transformation technologies. Low transformation efficiency and genotypic dependency of wheattowards genetic transformation has been well reported in several previous literatures. However, during last decade several refinements in previous technologies as well as developmentand adoptionof newapproaches have promised a high-throughput application of transformation technology in cereals like wheat. In present review we have attempted to gather a comprehensives update of the tools and techniques that have been applied for the genetic transformation of wheat.
