Sorghum is useful for grain as well as fodder purpose and sweet sorghum is a special type of sorghum having sweet juicy stalk suitable for ethanol production, feeding toanimals as forage, silage and hay in addition to grains as food, feed and for other industrial uses but it requires the development of stable genotypes across the environments. There is a wide range of variation in the varietal performance. Some genotypes perform well in some environments but not so well in others. Plant breeders need to give attention to develop sorghum genotypes with consistent high yield potential under varying environmental conditions. In such situations, statistical methods for determining stability of crop varieties in diverse environments are usually used to assist plant breeders in selecting superior varieties.
