Abstract

The present investigation was carried out at Navsari Agricultural University during the year 2013–2014. In this experiment corms of gladiolus variety ‘Psittacinus Hybrid’ were treated with different doses of DES (0.1, 0.2, 0.3, 04 and 0.5 per cent). Different vegetative, floral and reproductive characters were taken under study. It was found that there was positive shift in the mean of the daysto sprouting, plant growth, spike length, number of florets and vase life as compared to the untreated corms. The flower colour mutant was detected at 0.1% and 0.2% DES.
