Abstract

Experiment was at the Department of Agricultural Microbiology, University of Agricultural Sciences, GKVK, Bengaluru for the Screening of phylloplane yeast isolates for indole 3 acetic acid production. Six leaf samples (Artocarpus hirsutus, Swietenia mahagoni, Bauhinia purpurea, Grevillea robusta, Elaeocarpus tuberculatus and Santalum album) were collected from the Hassan district. Totally 15 yeast isolates were isolated from collected leaf sample and all yeast isolates were tested for different carbon sources utilization and indole 3 acetic acid production. In this Nine of the yeast isolates HAP1-II, HAP2-I, HAP3-I, HAP4-I, HAP4-II, HAP5-II, HAP5-III, HAP5-V and HAP6-I showed positive for all the carbon sources tested. Among 15 yeast isolates the maximum IAA production was recorded by the yeast isolate HAP4-I (1.44 μg/ml) and lowest was recorded by the yeast isolate HAP5-III (0.10 μg/ml).
