Abstract

The present investigation entitled ‘Evaluation of some ber (zizyphus marutiana lamk.) genotypes for morphological and physico-chemical characters’ was carried out at the Instructional-cum-Research Orchard of Arid Zone Fruits Project Department of Horticulture, Mahatma Phule krishi Vidyapeeth, Rahuri during the year 2012 to 2014. The nineteen cultivars of ber (i.e. Umran, Chhuhara, Gola, Kaithili, CIAH Selection-1, CIAH Hybrid-1, Goma kirthi, Narendra Ber-1, Narendra Ber-2, Seb, Kala Gola, Kadaka, Meharun-1, Jalgoan, Chemeli, Rahuri-1, Rahuri-2, Rahuri-3 Kapargoan Selection.) were assessed for the present studies. On the basis of desirable morphological and physicochemical characteristics the genotype Kopargaon Selection is observed morphologically best genotype. Genotypes viz., Rahuri-1, Rahuri-2, Rahuri-3 and Kala Gola were observed to be best for physic-chemical characteristics under Rahuri conditions. By observing the overall performance it was cocluded that the above genotypes can be utilized for further varietal improvement programme in ber.
