Abstract

For to known the susceptibility of different wheat varieties against Rhyzopertha Dominica are GW-273, HI-8704, LOK-1, MACS-6274, GW-322, AKAW-4021 (d), GW-1255 (d), GW-408, HI-1567, GW-503, GW-411, HI-8691(d), GW-173, GW-1139(d), HI-1544, HI-1568, MACS-3744, LOK-62, HW-5207-1, VAS-321, HI-8498(d), GW-366, GW-496, AKAW-4493 and GW-190 variety were evaluated for growth parameters of R. dominica under laboratory conditions. Out of these, only two wheat varieties viz., GW-322 and GW-366 were found to be relatively tolerant while, MACS-6274 and AKOW-4021 were found to be more susceptible to R. dominica with respect to population build up and grain damage. Minimum grain weight loss was recorded in GW-322 (2.27%), while MACS-6274 had maximum grain weight loss (11.60%). Amongs the twenty five wheat varieties screened against R. dominica, the varieties GW-322 and GW-366 were found tolerant, while MACS-6274 and AKOW-4021 were recorded to be susceptible to this pest.
