Impact of Seed Vigour on Crop Performance in Cucurbits

It is the seed vigour which gives a more realistic interpretation of the crop performance than the seed germination percentage. But, usually the studies on seed vigour are confined to lab alone. Less works are done on influence of seed vigour in field condition. This review is an attempt to explore the research done at field level to understand the influence of seed vigour on crop performance. Performance of high vigorous seeds is manifested as chilling tolerance, early maturity, modification of sex ratio and fruit yield in cucurbits.
