Effect of Tillage Practices on Growth and Yield of Linseed Crop After Harvest of Medium Duration Rice Under Rainfed Midland Condition of Chhattisgarh

Abstract

A field experiment was conducted at Research cum Instructional Farm, Indira Gandhi Krishi Viswavidyalaya, Raipur (Chhattisgarh) during rabi season of 2014–15. The experiment was laid out randomized block design with three replications. The treatment consisted of four tillage practices viz. T1-Zero tillage direct drilling of seeds and fertilizers at 2nd days after harvesting of rice, T2-Minimum tillage and line sowing of seeds at 3rd days after harvesting of rice, T3-Minimum tillage at 6th days after harvesting of rice, T4-Farmer practice broadcasting seeds and fertilizer at 12th days after harvesting of rice. The results revealed that the significantly higher plant population (118 m−2), plant height (53.84 cm), branches plant−1(1.96) dry biomass (2.49 g plant−1) and number of capsules plant−1 (22.25), number of seeds capsule−1 (8.53), seed yield (8.26 q ha−1) stover yield (19.21 q ha−1) have been found under treatment T1 (Zero tillage direct drilling of seeds at 2nd DAH of rice), but it was found at par with treatment T2 (Minimum tillage line sowing of seeds at 3rd DAH of rice). But, test weight (g) and harvest index (%) was not varied by different tillage practices. Treatment T4 Farmer practice broadcasting seeds and fertilizer at 12th days after harvesting of rice produced poorer values of all parameters.
