The potential of Trichoderma sp. in plant growth promotion and biological control is well known in the scientific community. Secondary metabolites produced by Trichoderma sp. may either be toxic or beneficial. Hence, their knowledge is essential for differentiation and future use. The present review highlights volatile sesquiterpenes produced by Trichoderma sp. as well as their ecological and pharmaceutical implications. Primarily, sesquiterpene-hydrocarbons, mono oxygenated sesquiterpenes and sesquiterpenes-ketols and their diversity in fungi have been focussed in the present review. Their ecological functions have been discussed as well, revealing the extent of reliability of these sesquiterpenes.
