Species diversity of butterflies in garampani wildlife sanctuary, Northeast India

Abstract

The present study documented a total of 146 species of butterfly (Order: Lepidoptera) belonging to five families and 87 genera in Garampani Wildlife Sanctuary (26° 24′ 0′’ N, 93° 52′ 0′’ E), North East India. Nymphalidae was the most dominant family with 66 species followed by Lycaenidae with 28 species, Pieridae with 22 species, Papilionidae with 18 species and Hesperiidae with 12 species.
