Abstract

Present investigation was undertaken in order to know the effect of pulsed electromagnetic field seed treatments on seed quality and crop establishment in green gram Variety S-4. The experiment was conducted in the Water and Land Use Management Institute (WALMI) Farm, Dharwad University of Agricultural Sciences, Dharwad during kharif 2013. The different pulsed electromagnetic field seed treatments showed differential response for all the seed quality attributes, growth and yield parameters. Among the treatments, seeds treated with 50Hz pulsed electromagnetic field seed treatment recorded significantly higher seed germination percentage (86.6%), seedling vigour index (2243), field emergence (81.50%), lesser days to 50 per cent flowering (58.2) and yield per ha (11.83 q/ha) followed by 100Hz pulsed electromagnetic field seed treatments.
