Effect of cutting pattern, nutrient level and plant geometry on the productivity of palisade grass (Brachiaria brizantha) in shaded condition

Abstract

A study was conducted to standardise the cutting pattern, nutrient requirement and plant geometry of palisade grass under partial shaded condition. The experiment was laid out in randomised block design with three replications and treatments comprised of three factors (two cutting patterns, three nutrient levels and three plant spacing. Maximum green fodder yield was obtained when the cutting height of 10 cm was followed from the ground level. Among the different nutrient doses the highest herbage yield was obtained with highest dose of fertilizer (250: 62.5: 62.5 kg N, P2O5 and K2Ot ha−1). Among the different spacing, the highest yield wwas recorded for narrow spacing (60 cm x 20 cm).
