Abstract

An experiment was carried out to study the effect of different sources of silicon on important soil properties at Department of Agricultural Chemistry and Soil Science, B. A. College of Agricultural. AAU, Anand during April-June, 2012. The experiment was laid out in factorial completely randomized design with three replications. Treatments consisted of four levels of organic and calcium silicate. The results indicated that FYM @ 5.0 t ha−1 significantly increased content of organic carbon and exchangeable Mg in soil than the FYM @ 2.5 t ha−1. The application of enriched FYM with paddy straw (PS) @ 5 t ha−1 also significantly increased -organic carbon, exchangeable Ca and Mg content in soil over lower level. The PS+FYM5.0 gave the highest available P2O5 and available Si amongst different organic treatments. The highest available P2O5 and Si were found in PS+FYM5.0 x CSi0.4 treatment combination in soil.
