Abstract

The experiment was conducted to study the influence of different levels of spacing and growth regulators on growth, flower yield, seed and quality in annual chrysanthemum (Chrysanthemum coronarium L.) during Karif -2014. The results revealed that, among the treatment combination of S1G1 (60 x 30 cm, GA3 at 200 ppm) recorded more plant height (109.6cm), S2G3 (60 x 45 cm, cycocel at 1000 ppm), recorded more number of branches per plant (34.26) and S3 G3 (60 x annual chrysanthemum has lead to its cultivations as a commercial crop. Area under loose flower cultivation in India is 16.63 thousand hectare with a production of 179.33 thousand million tonnes. In India, the major chrysanthemum growing states are Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, Maharashtra, Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh and Bihar (Anon., 2014). Increased flower production, quality of flowers and perfection in the forms of plants are important objectives to be recorded in commercial flower 60 cm, cycocel at 1000 ppm) recorded more plant spread of North-South at harvest. The interaction effect of S3G1 (60 x 60 cm, GA3 at 200 ppm) recorded more total dry matter production at harvest (404g/plant), seed yield per plant (9.94 g), 1000 seed weight (3.23g), germination per cent (88.66), seedling length (8.40cm) and vigour index (746) but the highest seed yield per hectare (342.77kg/ha) was recorder with S1G1 (60 x 30 cm, GA3 at 200 ppm) treatment.
