First report on xylariaceae and its occurrence in tropical moist deciduous forests of Odisha

In the mycological survey of different forest divisions of Odisha, the authors collected many interesting fungi. The fungi reported in this paper are rare to Odisha State. Xylariaceae is a large and relatively well known Ascomycetes family found in most countries, which contain 35 genera. Most of the species are saprobic wood degrading while some are endophytic or even associates with termite nests. The specimen of xylaria collected from different forest divisions of Odisha region, India. The collected specimen were screened by standard methods. Each specimen was examined on the basis of morphological characters. Further outsourcing was done for identity confirmation from Centre for Advance Studies, Madras University. All the species Daldinia concentric, Xylaria cubensis, Xylaria longipes, Xylaria polymorpha in the study were examined and identified on the basis of morphology.
