Abstract

Biological studies on Dodi mite, Tetranychus urticae Koch revealed that life cycle of T.urtiace was completed by passing through four active stages, viz. larva, protonymphal, deutonymphal and adult as well as three quiescent (chrysalis) stage viz. nymphochrysalis, deutochrysalis and teliochrysalis. After each active stage (except adult), mite entered into quiescent stage for short period, and the mite passed through next successive stage after moulting. The incubation, larval, protonymphal and deutonymphal periods were 3.28 ± 0.45, 1.84 ± 0.55, 2.08 ± 0.70 and 2.36 ± 0.56 days respectively, while growth index of the mite was 5.67.
