Constraints faced by potato growers in getting information regarding various aspects of potato production technology

The present investigation was undertaken in Anand district of Gujarat State. Anand district has eight talukas, out of which Anand, Anklav and Borsad, talukas were selected purposively because of large area and more number of potato growers are available in Anand, Borsad and Anklav talukas. From each of the selected talukas, 4 villages having large area under potato cultivation were selected purposively. Thus, total 12 villages were selected for the study. From each village 10 potato growing farmers were randomly selected for the study. Thus, 120 potato growers were selected for the study. Major constraints faced by the potato growers were Irregular visit of VLWs, Agricultural information broadcasting through radio/TV is not sufficient, Agricultural information broadcasted through radio/TV is not timely and major suggestions given by the potato growers were VLWs should visit regularly, Agricultural information centre should be established at village, TV/radio programme telecast should be at suitable time.
